Winchester Ranger Deluxe 31-7-E Gun
Winchester is synonymous with guns and quality. The Winchester brand has been around since 1866 and continues to make quality items. In 1991 they began making gun safes, which seems like a logical expansion of their business lines. They are constantly improving their safes and, as you would expect, continue to maintain some of the highest quality products available.
Look and Feel of safe:
Exterior measurements of 60”(H) x 36”(W) x 28”(D). Weighing in at 745lbs this thing is the heaviest of the safes I’ve reviewed! I also highly recommend professional safe movers for this safe. Heavy, solid, 12 Ga. steel construction makes this safe feel very heavy duty. Black or Granite depending on which model you buy. (Right now the Granite color is on sale, click here to get it) The black has grey lettering and the granite has black lettering. This comes with a spoke handle to open and is my favorite safe. A lot of the reason is the added depth that this safe has. See the measurement above to make sure you don’t need something a bit thinner, but if you have the space, this is great.
Lock Mechanism & Safety:
This safe has a four way locking bolt system. The lock is a UL listed lock and had a drill resistant hard plate. They recess set the door to make it pry resistant and also have a reinforced steel return door jamb. They also add a Chamberlain disk to protect the lock as well. An electronic lock and 14 bolts protect your gun investment.
Fireproofing:
Rated for 1 hour @ 1400°F! It has three layers of fireboard in the door and two in the body. One extra benefit they have is the Palusol heat expandable door seal. This expands if there is a fire to add extra protection around the seal of the door.
Interior:
This safe has the best looking interior out there. Winchester definitely has an eye for style. The included door pockets are sharp and useful. This is a gorgeous safe.
OVERALL:
If you’re not worried about spending a little extra money, this would be the safe I would recommend. It looks great, has amazing safety features and is designed for the gun enthusiast. It just has so much to offer. Again, the added depth makes this thing even more spectacular. I still say no safe that’s made for “30 guns” will actually hold that many, but this safe comes the closest. When you take into consideration the adjustable shelves and the hand gun pockets on the front door you could comfortably fit 22 guns or so.
